Vol. 41 No. 1

Adjournment of the Dáil.

I move the adjournment of the Dáil until Tuesday next at 3 p.m. As Thursday the 17th is a holiday we shall have to meet on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

Can the President indicate the nature of the business to be taken on Tuesday?

There are the Supplementary Estimates, the question of a Vote on Account, and the Central Fund Bill. There is a necessity for having these matters ready by that date, and they will have to be dealt with.

Is it the intention to take the Vote on Account only?

I am not able to say that definitely. We have not had time to consider these things. We have not got the materials. The intention is to get through that part of the business that is absolutely necessary. We have Holy Week the following week. There is a certain part of the business urgent.

May we take it that it is the intention to conclude the financial business next week? I take it that the House will not sit during Holy Week or during Easter.

Then it is the intention to conclude the financial business next week?

That is our intention, if it is at all possible to get it through in two days, and then to have an adjournment for a long period while the Ministers are taking over the Departments.

Is it the intention of the President to ask the House to meet on Tuesdays in future?

We have not considered that matter yet. Deputies are not to take it, because the House meets on Tuesday next, that we are going to continue that practice.

The Dáil adjourned at 6.10 p.m. until Tuesday, 15th March, at 3 p.m.
