Vol. 41 No. 2

Vote 59—Marine Service.

I move:—

"Go ndeontar suim bhreise ná raghaidh thar £1,975 chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1932, chun tuarastail agus Costaisí na Muir-Sheirbhíise (Merchant Shipping Acts, 1894-1921, Crown Lands Acts, 1829-1866).

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £1,975 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1932, for the Salaries and Expenses of the Marine Service (Merchant Shipping Acts, 1894-1921, Crown Lands Acts, 1829-1866).

I do not think this Estimate need take very long. The reduction of the Appropriations-in-Aid arises out of the decrease in the number of ships calling at the port of Cobh during the year. The receipts for surveys, inspections of ships, medical inspection of crews and passengers or stores, etc., were consequently much less than anticipated. There were savings under other sub-heads of £505, reducing the total estimate to £1,975.

Question put and agreed to.
