Vol. 41 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Naas Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Land Commission proposes to acquire the estate of Miss Hickey, Lacken, Naas East, Co. Kildare, who resides outside the Saorstát, for division among uneconomic holders in the area.

The Deputy presumably refers to a group of five small holdings, totalling in all about 70 acres, held by Miss Hickey in the townlands of Naas East and Cradockstown. Some of these are vested in the tenant under preceding Land Acts and some vested in the Land Commission under the 1931 Act, but not yet re-vested in the tenant. The Land Commission have not had under consideration the acquisition of any of these small holdings, but the matter has now been noted for attention when the re-vesting of the holdings on the estates pending under the 1923-1931 Acts is being dealt with. It is not at present possible to state when these cases will be taken up for further attention.
