Vol. 41 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Secondary Schools Examinations.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has been requested to institute an additional public examination for secondary schools at the end of the second year course and, if he has declined to entertain the request, whether he will state the specific grounds on which his refusal is based.

This matter has been receiving my consideration. From the information at my disposal it appears that the institution of an additional public examination for secondary schools at the end of the second year course would necessitate considerable expenditure, and in view of the existing financial stringency, I do not therefore consider it advisable to make the change suggested.
