Vol. 41 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castle Barracks, Limerick.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when the Castle Barracks, Limerick, will be handed over to the Limerick Corporation for housing purposes, regarding which negotiations are at present proceeding.

This property is subject to Article XI of the Constitution and can only be handed over to the Corporation by lease or licence under the State Lands Act, 1924, subject to such fine or rent as the Minister for Finance may think proper and agree with the Corporation. The lease or licence cannot be granted until the terms have been authorised by the Oireachtas.

The Minister is not yet in a position to ask the authority of the Oireachtas as terms are still under discussion.
