Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Increase in Revenue Commissioners.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what increases in the staff of the Revenue Commissioners have been sanctioned in consequence of tariffs imposed since 9th March last, and what will be the annual cost of such increases.

The increases in the staff of the Revenue Commissioners which have been sanctioned since the 9th March last in consequence of additional work arising from the recently imposed Customs duties are:—

Officers of Customs and Excise,

Clerical Officers,

10

Writing Assistants,

2

Shorthand Typists,

10

Typists,

3

Cleaners.

The approximate annual cost of these increases, taking basic salaries at the mean of the scales and including cost of living bonus, is £19,000.
