Vol. 42 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fishing in Lough Foyle.

asked the President if he will state what steps have been taken or will be taken to enable fishermen fishing in Lough Foyle under licences granted by the Moville Board of Conservators to pursue their ordinary occupation.

I refer the Deputy to the reply given on the 11th ultimo to a similar question standing in the Deputy's name. The situation has now been re-examined by the Law Officers and it is hoped that discussions will be resumed at an early date with representatives of the British Government with a view to arriving at an interim arrangement for the administration of the waters of the lough without prejudice to the jurisdiction of the Irish Free State over the territorial waters of Ireland.
