Eucharistic Congress. - Statement by President

At this first meeting of the Dáil after the ceremonies of the Eucharistic Congress, I should like to express, on behalf of the Government and of this Chamber, our joy and satisfaction at the success of this great festival. We are especially glad at the wonderful reception accorded to the Pope's representative by the people; and the Government, feeling that the people desire that they should do everything possible to show respect and esteem for the Papal Legate, have had the honour to extend to his Eminence and his suite the hospitality of the State in respect of the journey from Dublin to London next Sunday. The representative of the Holy Father has graciously accepted this offer.
