Vol. 43 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral—Answers. - Clonderlaw Estate (Clare).

(An Clár) asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he is aware that the estate of Mrs. Fanny Gore, Clonderlaw, Co. Clare, is let by the present owner to large farmers in that area, whilst small landholders and landless men are suffering acute distress; if he is in a position to state how soon the Land Commission proposes to acquire this estate and distribute it amongst these uneconomic holders and landless men, and whether in view of the discontent prevailing in the district he will take steps to have the estate distributed immediately.

The Land Commission are investigating the circumstances of the estate of Mrs. Fanny Gore with a view to its suitability for acquisition and division. The matter will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible, but at the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state if and when the lands will be acquired and divided.

Mr. Hogan

Am I to understand that the Minister will expedite the acquisition and division of this land?

A preliminary report has been received from the inspector. We are doing our best to expedite matters.
