Vol. 44 No. 1

Financial Resolutions. - In Committee on Finance.

I beg to move the six Financial Resolutions dealing with the imposition of new tariffs, or the alteration of existing ones, and also the General Resolution:—"That it is expedient to amend the law relating to Customs." I presume it will be convenient to the House to pass the Resolutions now, that possibly any debate might be taken on the General Resolution No. 7, the usual procedure being to debate that Resolution to-day and postpone the debate until a later date. The Resolutions are in the usual form and make provision in most cases for Imperial Preference, for drawbacks in the case of articles imported for further process of manufacture, and exemptions in regard to re-importations after exportation.
