Vol. 44 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reciprocal Unemployment Insurance.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state if any progress has been made towards a reciprocal scheme of Unemployment Insurance between this country and (a) Great Britain and (b) Northern Ireland?

I regret to say that no progress has been made in this matter.

On the 28th June the Minister stated that he had endeavoured to reopen the question. Has he since endeavoured to reopen it.

I refer the Deputy to my answer.

It says that there has been no progress.

If the Deputy did not ask the question he intended to ask he can put down another one.

I have asked the question and this is a very obvious supplementary. I asked if the Minister did endeavour to reopen the question since the 28th June.

I refer the Deputy to my answer.

The Minister is not prepared to answer that?

I will answer anything asked in the ordinary way.

The Minister stated he would consider whether any further measures were possible which would have a greater prospect of success than those already taken. There has been no further success I take it.

I am not concerned with what the Deputy thinks.
