Vol. 44 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Murray Estate, Killenaule.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what is the position with regard to the Murray Estate, St. Johnstown, Kille-naule, Co. Tipperary, held by Mr. Sparrow, and what steps the Land Commission intend to take with a view to acquiring these lands for subdivision amongst the uneconomic holders and landless men of the district.

The Land Commission applied to the Judicial Commissioner for an Order authorising them to resume Mr. Wm. Sparrow's holding containing 189a. Or. 7p. of the townlands of Milltown, St. John and St. Johnstown on the Murray Estate, Co. Tipperary, and on the 25th ultimo the Judicial Commissioner refused to make such order. The holding will, therefore, be revested in the tenant in due course.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that when this Estate was before Commissioner O'Shiel on a previous occasion the then occupier of the Estate, Mr. Moore, appeared and gave a promise that he would hand over the land to the Land Commission for sub-division and will the Parliamentary Secretary see that Mr. Sparrow will not be returned as the tenant of these lands.
