Vol. 45 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Governor-Generalship.

asked the President if he will state if it is intended soon to appoint a Governor-General; and if not, if he will state to whom, as the Representative of the Crown, it is intended, in accordance with Article 41 of the Constitution, to present Bills for the signification of the King's Assent.

The matters referred to in both parts of the question are being considered by the Executive Council. No statement can be made at the moment.

Is the Vice-President aware that there is a Bill which has at the moment passed both Houses of the Oireachtas and that under Article 41 of the Constitution it must be sent to the Governor-General at once?

I am quite aware of the position with regard to legislation.
