asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the total amount of moneys from Relief Grants provided during the current year which has been allocated through his Department, and the amount of such moneys which has been allocated to and the amount which up to the last date for which particulars are available has been spent in each administrative county in (a) rural districts, and (b) towns having local government.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief Grants.
Dr. Ryan
As the reply necessarily contains a number of detailed figures, I propose to have it circulated.
The following is the information desired:—
The moneys from relief grants allocated to the Department of Agriculture during the current financial year (apart from relief grants in connection with afforestation) amounted to £21,300. In addition, there was available from the previous financial year an unexpended sum of £25,250. Of the total amount £46,550, £44,328 has been allocated, and £22,169 already disbursed by the Department in respect of works in rural areas and towns, as set out in the following table. As separate figures for rural districts are not available, the figures are given by counties. The works for which the moneys have been allocated have in many cases not yet arrived at the payment stage, but it is anticipated that practically all of the money will be claimed and paid by the end of the financial year.
