Vol. 46 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed Pier at Cahermore (Co. Cork).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he is aware that for many years the people of Cahermore, Castletownbere, Co. Cork, have strongly represented the need for a small pier; that the residents further believe that a much more modest proposal of this kind than the one recently under consideration would meet the needs of the district, and if he will have the proposal again examined from this angle.

I am quite satisfied from the engineering advice I have received that no work at Cahermore would be of utility which would cost less than £1,300, and having regard to the limited extent and seasonal nature of the fishing carried on in the locality, I would not feel justified in recommending such an outlay.
