Vol. 46 No. 7

In Committee on Finance. - Supplementary and Additional Estimates. Vote No. 56—Industry and Commerce.

I move:

Go ndeontar suim bhreise ná raghaidh thar £300 chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1933, chun Tuarastail agus Costaisí Oifig an Aire Tionnscail agus Tráchtála, maraon le Coiste Comhairlitheach na Rátaí, agus Ildeontaisí i gCabhair.

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £300 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1933, for the Salaries and Expenses of the Office of the Minister for Industry and Commerce, including the Rates Advisory Committee, and sundry Grants-in-Aid.

This Vote of £300 is for exhibits at the International Fair at Chicago in the coming year.

Can the Minister give any particulars?

The difficulty is that there will not be time now to get through the Estimates if I do so.

There are six Supplementary Estimates and the First Stage of the Central Fund Bill to be disposed of before 10.30 p.m.

I take it that we are not allowed to discuss this Supplementary Estimate.

The Chair cannot prevent Deputies doing so.

There is an agreement that the business on the Order Paper should be dealt with before 10.30.

I do not object to that, but I protest against an agreement being arrived at behind the backs of Deputies, who know nothing about it.

I am afraid that is not correct. After all, members of all Parties are supposed to be bound by the agreement entered into by the Whips, and are familiar with the reasons which bring these agreements into being.

Question put and agreed to.
