Vol. 46 No. 7

In Committee on Finance. - Central Fund Bill, 1933—First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to apply certain sums out of the Central Fund to the service of the years ending on the 31st day of March, 1933 and 1934.—(Mr. MacEntee.)
Bill read the First Time.

When will the Second Stage be taken?

The Bill will be circulated to-night, and we hope that all stages will be taken to-morrow. As the House is aware, it is customary to have a debate only on the Second Stage.

Can the Minister say if he will have the Estimates by then?

Yes. If there is any difficulty about that a number of uncorrected copies have been supplied to the Leaders of the various Parties and I am sure they will be made available for Deputies. Of course the Estimates will be presented to the House separately and dealt with in detail.

Do I understand that any Deputy who asks for a copy will be supplied with one?

I could not undertake to do that. We only received a limited number of proofs and I believe they have been already disposed of. I am sure any Deputy who has a copy will be glad to make it available.

I appreciate that.

If I recollect aright, I think the Minister for Local Government promised to-day that Deputies would have copies of the Estimates to-night.

Possibly they will be available. To some extent, we are in the hands of the printers, but they will be circulated as soon as possible.

Second Stage ordered for to-morrow.
