Vol. 46 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation under Electricity Acts.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will introduce proposals for legislation to compensate a number of ex-employees of the Cork Electric Lighting and Tramways Company who lost their employment as the result of the taking over of the Cork undertaking by the Electricity Supply Board.

A Bill to provide for compensation being given to certain of the former employees of the Cork Electric Tramways undertaking is at present being drafted and will be introduced at an early date.

Could the Minister state what that date will be?

An early date.

That is a rather elastic term. Will it be within two months?

It will be much less than that.

Am I to take it that it will be less than two months?

It will be less than a week.

I must ask the Deputy behind the Minister not to prompt the Minister as he prompted the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Local Government.
