Vol. 47 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Exports From Donegal.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state what is the average quantity of fresh milk exported daily across the Derry border by Donegal farmers; and whether, in view of the fact that there is a duty of 10 per cent. on all milk exported to Northern Ireland, he will consider the granting of a bounty to exporters to assist them to meet the tax.

I have ascertained from figures furnished by the Department of Industry and Commerce that the average quantity of fresh milk exported daily across the Derry border from Donegal was, for the year 1932, 613 gallons. I do not consider that the circumstances call for the payment of a bounty on this export.
