Vol. 47 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Representation in the Dáil.

asked the President whether early steps will be taken to give an opportunity of representation in the Dáil to those hitherto debarred by the Oath of Allegiance.

No general opportunity of the kind contemplated in the question can be afforded until the next General Election which, it is anticipated, will not occur until the term of the present Dáil has expired. In the meantime sections of the people who have been hitherto debarred from representation by the Oath of Allegiance will have opportunities of nominating candidates at any by-elections which take place.
