Vol. 48 No. 8

Damage to Property (Compensation) (Amendment) Bill, 1933.

Before moving for leave to introduce the Damage to Property (Compensation) (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, which is No. 3 on the Order Paper, I should like to explain that it is really No. 13 —Damage to Property (Compensation) (Amendment) Bill—in an amended form. Its introduction is occasioned by the following circumstances: an amendment stood in my name on the Order Paper which would give effect to certain proposals in relation to a period anterior to January, 1919. While the amendment was within the title of the Bill and within the terms of the Money Resolution, it was, nevertheless, considered by the Ceann Comhairle to be so material an enlargement of the scope of the Bill, as read a Second Time, that is would be more advisable to withdraw that Bill and embody the amendment which I have submitted in a new Bill. Accordingly, with the leave of the House, I should like, before moving the First Reading of the Bill which is No. 3 on the Order Paper, to move that the Order for Committee Stage of the Damage to Property (Compensation) (Amendment) Bill be discharged and that leave be granted to withdraw the Bill.

Order discharged accordingly.

Bill withdrawn by leave of the House.
