Vol. 48 No. 17

Written Answers. - Kerry Blind Pension Claims.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that a number of applicants for the blind pension in County Kerry, whose claims have been approved by the local subcommittee as long ago as January last, have not yet received their pensions; that they have been informed that the pension will not be paid until they have been examined by a medical inspector from the Department, and if, in the circumstances, he will have any necessary examination expedited and and if he will state when the inspector will visit Kerry for the purpose.

In the last week of last month, the medical inspector examined 201 claimants for blind pensions in County Kerry and decisions will be expedited.

Special consideration is being given to the making of such arrangements for the examination of blind pension claims as will minimise delays.
