Vol. 48 No. 18

Private Business. - The Dublin General Cemetery Company's Bill, 1933—Final Stage.

I beg to move: "That the Bill be now received for Final Consideration."

I should like to ask whether the Minister for Local Government, who is most concerned in this matter, has given any close attention to the arguments set forth by Senator Colonel Moore in the other House with regard to the question of health as affected by this Bill. The matter appears to be one of very considerable importance on which opinion is divided. One would like to feel secure that those charged with the care of public health have given the thing some definite attention.

It is not in accordance with established procedure to have a discussion on the measure at this stage. Deputies are confined to agreement or objections to giving the Report Stage. I take it that the Report Stage is agreed to.

Question agreed to.

Ordered: "That the Fifth Stage be taken to-day.

I move: "That the Bill do now pass."

I do not wish to raise any objection, but I would like to know whether anyone in the Government has been alive to the question of health.

I feel confident that a matter of the importance the Deputy has represented could not have been overlooked by the Minister in charge.

The impression given by what took place in the Seanad was that the matter had to a very large degree been overlooked.

Question agreed to.

Message to be sent to the Seanad accordingly.
