Vol. 50 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Roscrea Old Age Pension Claims.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the pension officer has objected to the decision of the local committee to grant an old age pension to Miss Fannie Benn, Ballygurteen, Roscrea, on the ground of age; if he is further aware that the committee had before them an affidavit by two neighbours who had known her all her life and who had gone to school with her, the marriage certificate of her parents, and the evidence of an old family bible register, and if in view of the fact that all the parish records were burned in the Four Courts fire he will state when a decision on this appeal will be given and whether the applicant will be given the opportunity of rebutting the contentions of the pension officer.

It has been decided that the claimant is entitled to a pension of 6/- a week as from the 25th October, 1932.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the claim of James Kelly, of Moynure, Roscrea, Offaly, has been passed by the local pension committee, and if in view of the particularly distressful predicament of the applicant who is mentally unwell and who has lost an eye he will expedite payment of his pension.

The claim in this case was disallowed on the grounds that the claimant did not fulfil the statutory condition as to residence.
