Vol. 50 No. 4

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Instruction for Gaeltacht Girls.

Mr. Lynch

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state (a) how many girls from the Gaeltacht are at present in Dublin receiving instruction in knitting and other rural industries; (b) what the duration of the course of instruction will be, and (c) for how many of the girls will there be employment in the rural industry centres when they have completed their course.

In reply to (a), there are 14 girls at present receiving instruction in Dublin; (b) the instruction of those not already proficient will continue until the trainees have reached the required degree of efficiency, a period which will not, it is anticipated, in any case exceed three months from now, and (c) employment in the capacity of manageress or worker will be immediately available for all the trainees with two exceptions.
