Vol. 50 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballinkill Occurrence.

asked the Minister for Justice if, with reference to the firing into the house of Henry Goonan, Ballinkill, during the progress of a dance in the house when Thomas Coen was wounded some months ago, he will state if he has received any Gárda report upon this outrage, and, if so, if he will indicate the number of people thought to have taken part in the armed attack on this dance; whether any arrests followed; what charges were preferred and before what court and with what result.

No person has been arrested or charged in connection with the matter referred to in the question. No useful purpose would be served by the publication, at the present time, of any information in the hands of, or any opinions formed by, the police.

Is this incident of firing at a party and attacking a dance hall going to be allowed without any further attempt being made to get those responsible for it brought to justice?

Investigations have not been completed. They are proceeding.
