Vol. 50 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Broadcasting Foreign Ointments.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the supply of Irish-made ointments was sufficient for the country's demand before the advertisements for foreign ointments were broadcast from the Athlone Station, and if he is aware that it has become the practice to broadcast from Athlone advertisements for foreign-made ointments, and if he will cause the practice to be discontinued.

The general policy in regard to the broadcasting of advertisements of imported products was explained in my reply to the Deputy's question on the 7th February.

There is no evidence in my Department to show that the sale of Irish-made ointments is adversely affected by radio advertising, but if the Deputy will furnish me with particulars of any case or cases he has in mind, I shall have further enquiries made.
