Vol. 51 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Housing (Gaeltacht) Act.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the total number of applications received from 1st March, 1932, to 1st February, 1934, under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Act for the erection of houses in County Galway; the total number approved by him; the total number of these houses completed, and the total number in which final payments have been made.

The number of applications under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Acts received from County Galway during the period mentioned was 209, of which 37 have been granted. In one of these cases the house has been completed and the final instalment paid.

Mr. Brodrick

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply, I should like to know how many applications were granted. He says that 209 were received.

The number of applications was 209.

Mr. Brodrick

Yes, and how many were granted?

Thirty-seven.

Mr. Brodrick

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply, can he give any reason why, out of 209 applications, only 37 have been granted? I find that the latter portion of my question has not been answered—that is, as to the number of payments made.

During that period the total number of sanctions in the county was 151 and the total amount of payments made was 114.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say how many of these houses have been actually completed?

The total number completed in that period was 114.
