Vol. 51 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballinakill (Laoighis) Contract.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state whether a contract for the erection of 13 houses at Ballinakill was given out by the Laoighis County Board of Health about June, 1933; whether work on this scheme has not yet commenced, and if so, what is the cause of the delay and what steps, if any, have been taken by the board of health concerned or by his Department to have work commenced within a reasonable time from the date upon which the contract was sanctioned.

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Work has not yet been commenced on the scheme as the contractor refused to sign the contract documents owing to a dispute with the board regarding certain previous contracts. I have approved of a proposal from the board of health to re-advertise the contract.
