asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the number of labourers' cottages erected in each county in the Saorstát prior to the 31st July, 1932, and (a) the number completed subsequent to that date; (b) the number in course of erection, and (c) the number approved for erection up to date.

The number erected before 1932 was 42,100. The erection of these houses was during the period 1883 to 1932, a period of 49 years. The total number erected, in course of erection and approved for erection since March, 1932, is 8,659, approximately 20 per cent. of what was done in the preceding 49 years.
Our records relate to each financial year and it would involve much time to give the required figures to 31st July, 1932. The number built for the three months in question is so small that the date given, 31st March, 1932, is really sufficient.
