Vol. 52 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing of Cork Light Railway.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has received notice of the intention of the Great Southern Railway Company to close down the Cork-Muskerry and Donoughmore Light Railway, and further, if he has received representations from the Cork County Council requesting him to hold a preliminary inquiry into any such application and that at such inquiry evidence should be sought from the residents and farmers of the Muskerry district and from the Cork County Council, and if it is intended to accede to the representations made and have the suggested inquiry instituted.

The answer to the first and second parts of the question is in the affirmative. The answer to the third part of the question is in the negative; the Act under which the order authorising the discontinuance of the train service would be made does not provide for inquiries of the character suggested.
