asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has received an application for a grant for the development of the Madranna slate quarry in West Cork and if he will favourably consider same, having regard to the present excellent demand for Irish slate and the prospect of affording increased employment in the area.

The reply to the first part of the Deputy's question is in the affirmative. An inspection of the quarry will be made at an early date, and on receipt of the inspector's report the matter will be fully considered.
