Vol. 52 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trade Loans Act Advance.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state how much was advanced to Aylesburys Ltd., Edenderry, under the Trade Loans (Guarantee) Acts; and how much of the loan has been repaid up to 1st May, 1934.

No sums were advanced by the State to Aylesburys, Ltd., under the Trade Loans (Guarantee) Acts. A guarantee was given under the Trade Loans (Guarantee) Acts to the debenture holders who provided £28,500 for Aylesbury Bros., Ltd. When the company defaulted, the principal together with the interest due thereon was paid out of the Central Fund. This amounted to £38,553 17s. 3d. No part of this sum has yet been recouped.
