Vol. 52 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dividends on Land Bonds.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the land bonds representing the purchase money of the tenanted land comprised in the estate of Mrs. Margaret J. Kelly, Record No. S.6606, were lodged to the credit of the Irish Land Commission as on the 1st of May, 1931; that no payment of the dividends on such land bonds was made to the vendor, and if he will state why such dividends were not paid as accrued to the vendor.

The provisions to enable a vendor of land vested in the Land Commission under the Land Acts, 1923-31, to obtain payment of dividends on the land bonds representing the purchase money of the estate, pending distribution, are incorporated in Section 36 of the Land Act, 1931. Interest on land bonds to credit of estates is only paid out on application in the prescribed manner being made under that section. No such application appears to have been made in respect of the estate to which the Deputy refers.
