Vol. 53 No. 4

Vote No. 21—Miscellaneous Expenses.

I move:—

Go ndeontar suim ná raghaidh thar £6,680 chun slánuithe na suime is gá chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1935, chun Costaisí Ilghnéitheacha áirithe, maraon le Deontaisí áirithe i gCabhair.

That a sum not exceeding £6,680 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1935, for certain Miscellaneous Expenses, including certain Grants-in-Aid.

This Estimate covers a variety of heads. There is a Grant-in-Aid to the Incorporated Law Society of £125. Grants-in-Aid totalling £3,700 are provided for scientific investigation. The Royal Zoological Society of Ireland gets £750; the Royal Irish Academy, £2,400; the Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts, £150.

It is very hard to get away from the royalty.

According to this it is very costly, apparently. The Royal Irish Academy of Music gets £100 and the Irish Folklore Institute, £300.

We have all these details in the Estimate.

I do not think there is any further comment necessary on this Estimate but, again, I shall be most happy to let Deputy MacDermot have a look at the full particulars if he wants to.

Vote put and agreed to.
