Vol. 53 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Tipperary Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether the rural housing scheme for South Tipperary has been sent by the South Tipperary Board of Health to his Department for sanction, and, if so, whether sanction will be expedited to enable building operations to be commenced.

The scheme of the South Tipperary Board of Health and Public Assistance proposes the erection of 1,011 cottages, and a compulsory purchase order for the acquisition of the land has been made by the board. An inquiry has been held by one of the Department's inspectors as to the propriety of confirming the order. The inspector has inspected all sites and is at present preparing his report. It is expected that his full report will be received within the next few days and every possible step is being taken to expedite the issue of the confirming order.
