asked the Minister for Agriculture whether the figures published in the Irish Independent of the 9th July as to the deficiency in filling the bacon quota to the United Kingdom for the month of June are correct, and, if not, if he will state the correct figures.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bacon Quota.
The published figures referred to are not correct. The total amount allocated for the bacon quota for the month of June was 31,000 cwts., and was distributed as follows: —
Bacon |
25,410 bacon cwts. |
Live Pigs |
2,240 ,,,, |
Carcases |
3,350 ,,,, |
The amount actually exported was:—
Bacon |
23,980 bacon cwts. |
Live Pigs |
693 ,,,, |
Carcases |
1,273 ,,,, |
making a total of 25,946 bacon cwts. The deficiency was, therefore, 5,054 bacon cwts., not 19,156 cwts. as published in the report referred to.
Might I ask if the market in respect of which this quota was isued is the market which the President thanks God is gone for ever and which Senator Connolly hopes to destroy in 100 days?
That is a separate question.
