Vol. 54 No. 7

Report of the Committee of Public Accounts.

I move: (1) That the report do lie upon the Table. (2) That the report, together with the minutes of evidence, proceedings of the Committee and appendices be printed.

Motion agreed to. Ordered accordingly.

Would I be in order now in inquiring whether any Parliamentary time will be provided for the discussion of this report? During the six years when I was a member of the Public Accounts Committee on every occasion when that report came before the House, there was a discussion on it. That custom has been discontinued for some years. I wonder if it is the intention to allow a day for the discussion of this report? There are many private Deputies who are not members of the Committee who would like to give their views on the report and they will not have an opportunity of doing so unless the Government gives Parliamentary time for discussion of it.

I am sure the time can be arranged.

Are we to take it, then, that the President will arrange for time for a discussion on this, some day after Christmas?

Yes. It will be arranged to give time for the discussion.
