asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total acreage in each county for which applications were made for licences to grow tobacco in the year 1934.
Written Answers. - Tobacco-Growing Licences.
It was decided that persons who did not grow tobacco in the year 1933 were not to be granted licences in respect of the year 1934. One thousand six hundred and eighty two applications were made by 1933 growers and the acreage applied for by them is given hereunder. Five thousand, four hundred and thirty-one applications were received from persons who did not grow tobacco in 1933. The compilation of the acreage applied for, county by county, in these cases would not justify the expense involved.
