Arising out of that reply, would the Parliamentary Secretary inform us whether it is true that one of the instructresses in one of these centres has been employed at the work for something like 47 years, and is not pensionable? If that is so would the Parliamentary Secretary see that steps are taken to compensate persons now losing their employment in those centres?

I am not aware that one of these instructresses has 47 years service with the Department, but these instructresses are not pensionable.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary seriously propose to allow somebody who has occupied the position of instructress for 38 years—that is the correct time—to be thrown out on the roadside without any pension and without any compensation?

That is a separate question.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say whether any of the 80 girls employed are entitled to receive benefit under the Unemployment Assistance Act?

That is also another question.

As these industries have been closed down will the Parliamentary Secretary consider giving alternative work to those girls?

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that these girls are unemployed for the last year or two?

They will note the helpful attitude which the Deputy has adopted in this matter.
