Vol. 55 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of River Robe.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that acute unemployment exists in Claremorris and Ballinrobe Unions; and if he will state when the Commissioners for Public Works intend to proceed with the drainage of the River Robe.

The Minister is aware of the unemployment position in Claremorris and Ballinrobe, as well as in the remainder of Saorstát Eireann.

I refer the Deputy to the reply given to his question re this drainage scheme on 12/12/34. The report on the public inquiry is still under consideration, and while considerable progress has been made, a definite date for the commencement of actual drainage works cannot yet be given, but it is hoped that a start can be made during the coming summer.
