Vol. 55 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment Exchange at Cecil Street, Limerick.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware of the hardships inflicted on applicants for unemployment assistance and the inconvenience caused to the staff of the Employment Exchange at Cecil Street, Limerick, by the unexplained delay in carrying out the extensions to and completing the alteration of the premises and if he will state when the work will be proceeded with.

Tenders have been received for this work and are under consideration, and it is hoped shortly to place a contract for its execution.

Is it not a fact that plans were prepared and ready six months ago and that nothing has been done yet to relieve the congestion and serious inconvenience in Limerick?

I am only in a position to answer the question the Deputy has put down and that is that tenders have been received and I understand that a decision is likely to be taken at an early date.
