There are no complete records available as regards the number of persons who received injections for the purpose of immunisation against the disease and who contracted the disease subsequently. The number of cases in which persons who received the complete immunisation treatment contracted the disease after the expiration of the period (nine months) necessary to confer immunity from the disease is very small, as may be gathered from the following notes on the subject in recent reports of county medical officers of health:—

In Cork County up to December, 1933, 10,397 children were immunised and only eight of these were subsequently notified as having contracted the disease, and no deaths occurred.

In Louth County out of 2,000 children immunised since 1928, only one case of the disease occurred after immunisation.
