Vol. 56 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mortality Statistics.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state in respect of each registration area the number of deaths of (a) infants, and (b) other persons which occurred in each of the last five years for which this information is available; further, whether he will state in respect of infants the death rate per thousand births and in respect of other deaths the death rate per thousand of the population.

The preparation of a return showing death rates and infantile mortality for each of the 640 registration areas for each of the last five years would occupy the staff for a considerable period and the labour involved would not be commensurate with any use which could be made of the figures.
