Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Insurable Employment.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of persons (distinguishing between men, women and juveniles) in insurable employment during the last week in March, June, September and December, 1934, and March, 1935, or the nearest date in each quarter for which the figures are available.

Statistics of persons in industries insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts are not available for particular weeks. In the insurance year ended 7th October, 1934, the numbers of unemployment insurance books current (i.e., the number of books exchanged, together with the numbers of new books issued during the 12 months) were as follows:—Men 287,846; women 65,718; juveniles 27,209.

The corresponding numbers for the 12 months ended 31st March, 1935, were as follows:—Men 296,676; women 68,745; juveniles 28,445.
