Vol. 56 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation to Approved Societies' Officials.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that there has been considerable delay in the payment of compensation to agents or clerks of approved societies whose employment in this capacity was terminated arising out of the transfer of all the approved societies and branches to the Unified Insurance Society; and if he can take any steps to expedite payment of compensation in these cases, now long overdue.

Cumann an Árachais Náisiúnta ar Shláinte states that there has been no avoidable delay in the payment of compensation to employees of approved societies whose services were terminated under the National Health Insurance Act, 1933. The terms of service and the period of its duration must be verified in each case before a claim is admitted, and difficulty is sometimes experienced in securing the necessary details from the records of the old societies.
