Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Post Office Savings Account.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the sums outstanding in respect of savings certificates at the end of the last financial year; and (b) the number of accounts open in the Post Office Savings Bank, and the total sum to the credit of all such accounts at the end of December, 1934.

The amount of savings certificates outstanding at the 31st March, 1935, was £7,781,903, exclusive of the interest accrued thereon which amounted to £2,086,967. The number of accounts open in the Post Office Savings Bank on the 31st December, 1934, was 259,826, and the total sum to the credit of all such accounts at that date was £5,582,432.
