Vol. 56 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extension of Apprenticeship Act.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether it is his intention to extend to any other trades the provisions of the Apprenticeship Act, 1931; and, if so, whether he will state the trades to which it is proposed so to extend this Act, and whether apprenticeship committees for these trades will be established at an early date.

It is proposed to consider the application of the Apprenticeship Act, 1931, to trades in which there is need for the regulation and training of apprentices. Consultations have taken place with organisations of employers and employees in the house painting and decorating trade, and it is hoped to extend the application of the Act to and to establish an apprenticeship committee for that trade at an early date.
