Vol. 57 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cutlery Imports and Customs Duty Thereon.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total value of cutlery intended to be covered by the Emergency (Imposition of Duties) Order (No. 64), 1935, imported into Saorstát Eireann during (1) the 12 months ended 31st December, 1933, and (2) the 12 months ended 31st December, 1934, and the principal countries of origin, and the amount of customs duty paid in respect of these articles during each of these two periods.

Owing to the change in the incidence of the duty and the alteration of the heads under which import statistics are compiled, I am unable to give precisely the information required by the Deputy. Such information as I have been able to obtain is in the form of tabular statements which will be circulated in the Official Report.

Following is the table:—
