Vol. 58 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Insurance of National Teachers.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state if managers of national schools are complying with the responsibility thrown on them under the Workmen's Compensation Act in respect of the insurance of national teachers whose salary is under £350 and who are insurable under the Act.

My Department has no information on this matter, which is one solely for the managers of the national schools.

If there is a dispute between the managers and the Department on the matter, the managers contend that while they appoint the teachers they are paid by the National Board, and that, therefore, the Board are responsible for seeing that they are insured.

The Deputy should put down another question.
